Khalid & Sophie in the elevator up: ‘It’s less canal belt’

The ratings of Khalid & Sophie are on the rise. Yesterday the talk show even attracted more viewers than Jinek. How it comes? “They are clearly doing fewer canal belt topics now.”

Khalid & Sophie was a megaflop for a long time, but now seems to be picking up something. In the first three weeks of this TV season, an average of 448 thousand, 495 thousand and 541 thousand people watched the program respectively, an upward trend, and this week the counter is already at an average of 687 thousand.

Less canal belt

The Wednesday Khalid & Sophie was good for 644 thousand viewers (18 percent market share) and a fourteenth place in the top 15 viewership, just above Jinek, which amounted to 623 thousand viewers (18 percent). Will the program of Khalid Kasem and Sophie Hilbrand still be okay?

Viewer figures expert Tina Nijkamp thinks the growth is evident. “Khalid and Sophie seem to score a little better now that they do less canal belt topics and choose more the personal than just the political approach. The talk show has also become less ‘angry’,” she writes on Instagram.

Well old viewers

Tina points out that Khalid & Sophie now scores even better than Jinek. “And also a lot more than HLF8: 230 thousand viewers. Somewhat younger subjects for now, because in the commercial target group 20 to 54 years the score is 7.5 percent market share. HLF8 scored only 3.0 percent in that target group. Competitor Half Eight News? 44.1 percent!”

The most successful talk show of the evening was Today Inside with 797 thousand viewers (18 percent), followed by Op1, which captivated 777 thousand viewers (34 percent).

The big winner in prime time was Oogappels with 955 thousand viewers (22 percent) on NPO 1, followed by Nieuwsuur with 824 thousand viewers (18 percent) on NPO 2. This is followed by Today Inside on SBS 6.

Carlo Boszhard is only in fourth place with I Can See Your Voice: 707 thousand people (16 percent) watched it. The disappointment of the evening was NPO 1’s Hands aan de Couveuse, which scored far below the channel average with 567 thousand viewers (12 percent).
