Father and son are head and deputy carillonneur in Bruges Halletoren

The previous deputy or deputy carillonneur has retired, so the city had to look for a new deputy. Nico Blontrock, alderman of Cultuur Brugge: “Then we arrived at Brecht, who is the son of our current city carillonneur Wim Berteloot. He was able to present the necessary letters of nobility, he graduated from the carillon school in Mechelen. And by the way: the number of candidates carillonneurs who live in our region can be counted on one hand.”

Wim Berteloot, city carillonneur of Bruges: “I am very proud of that. When I started in 2008-2009 as a deputy, it gave me a boost to profile myself. Bruges is a unique place, all carillonneurs like to play here. if you get that chance, it’s formidable. And if your son can come in that place, you’ll be more than happy.”

The intention is that Brecht will only replace father Wim as deputy carillonneur when he is unable to play.
