Coach Rost has to go: Erzgebirge Aue is looking for a 7th boss since Tedesco

After the resignation of Boss Leonhardt

Only a few days after the resignation of President Helge Leonhardt, third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue parted ways with coach Timo Rost. After a joint meeting of the club’s committees and the detailed sporting analysis, the newly appointed board of the Saxons came to the conclusion that the 44-year-old was released from his duties, the club announced on Tuesday evening.

Rost’s successor should be clarified in the near future. The ex-professional only came to Aue from newly promoted Bayreuth to the second division relegated in the summer. After nine match days, the “Violets” are in last place without a win. Since the departure of Domenico Tedesco in the summer of 2017, six head coaches plus interim solutions have followed.

The club meanwhile emphasized in a message the “jointly decided” step. Rust does not want to stand in the way of the Auer restart. The coach himself does not have a say. “He was ready to take responsibility in a difficult phase,” said the club about Rost, who was thanked for the work done. The FC Erzgebirge team will again be taken over on an interim basis by Carsten Müller, head of the youth academy.
