The socialist and liberal trade unions submitted a strike notice to the supermarket group Delhaize on Monday evening after failed social consultations. That reports De Tijd.

In 2019, Delhaize was reorganized to make the stores work more efficiently. This included multi-purpose teams with staff that could be deployed more flexibly. In addition, a flying team was also created to compensate for absences in stores.

However, the Christian and liberal trade unions were not satisfied with the new approach and did not sign the collective agreement. The socialist BBTK initially did, but came back on its lines in the spring.

A reconciliation meeting followed on Monday, but it came to nothing. The union and the management did not agree on the existing collective labor agreement and an alternative proposal from the liberal union ACLVB was also rejected.

The BBTK and the ACLVB therefore submitted a strike notice that expires in two weeks. If no solution is found during that period, a strike will in principle follow.
