Ajax brings in former Chef de Mission Maurits Hendriks

Maurits Hendriks starts working at Ajax. The former chef de mission of NOC*NSF becomes Chief Sports Officer (CSO). That is a new position within the Amsterdam football club.

“Ajax inspires young people to get the best out of themselves with imaginative top performances. I look forward to contributing with my new colleagues to strengthening the top sports culture and further expanding this wonderful club,” says Hendriks on the website of the Amsterdammers.

General director Edwin van der Sar is pleased with the arrival of the former technical director of NOC*NSF. “His knowledge and experience are of value in the further development of Ajax’s top sports culture. This concerns, among other things, further strengthening our youth academy with the colleagues involved, the next steps of our women’s football and various long-term projects, such as the De Nieuwe project Future.”

Hendriks will be responsible at Ajax for Sportpark de Toekomst, project De Nieuwe Toekomst, the youth academy, women’s football and the specialist departments that support all football selections. The composition, performance and development of Ajax 1 and Ajax Reserves, including the associated transfers, remain the responsibility of the Director of Football Affairs.

Hendriks was technical director at NOC*NSF for over thirteen years. He was previously successful as a hockey coach with the Dutch men. He became Olympic champion in 2000 in Sydney. He was Chef de Mission of the Dutch team at three Olympic Games.
