The handball department of Borussia Dortmund is faced with serious allegations: two players have terminated their contract without notice and reported to the Abuse Center of Athletes Germany.
The chairman of BVB’s handball department, Andreas Heiermann, confirmed on Friday (September 9th, 2022) when asked by WDR that the players Amelie Berger and Mia Zschocke had submitted their termination without notice. “We initially objected to the termination,” the club said.
Reasons for termination are not known
Both would also have turned to the violence and abuse office of “Athletes Germany”. The association represents the interests of top athletes throughout Germany. The exact reasons for the cancellation and the notification to the athletes’ association are not known.
“We take the matter very seriously,” Heiermann explained and promised a short-term appointment with the abuse agency. Everything else remains internal, of course. The “Athleten Deutschland” association also did not want to make any statements and referred to the confidentiality that those affected expected.
How the contracts of the players will continue is currently unclear, as is the reason for the allegations.
