A big downer for Chantal Janzen: her brand new TV show Fout Maar Goud has to deal with a big viewing figure. She sees no less than 34 percent of her viewers drop out.

It is unbelievable to swallow for Chantal Janzen: her brand new RTL 4 program Fout Maar Goud is on the rise and not just a little bit. After last week’s premiere episode watched by 815 thousand people (18 percent market share), only 535 thousand people (11 percent) were still there yesterday.

Chantal loses big

What is going on here? This cries out for an analysis by viewing figures authority Tina Nijkamp. “This is 300 thousand viewers less than last week. Oh dear. That sucks for RTL and Chantal Janzen. A very disappointing score, because this is too little for prime time on RTL 4,” said Tina, who thinks that it is “enormous getting used to” for the presenter.

Wrong But Gold is all about guilty pleasures, things that are enjoyed while generally not highly regarded. And that, according to Tina, is perhaps the big problem with this program. “Wrong But Gold has a theme (guilty pleasures) that may not quite fit a broad family channel.”

mismatch

Guilty pleasures and RTL 4 are a mismatch, according to Tina. “Why is Coffee Time a guilty pleasure or playing bingo? Why are the songs Dancing Queen or Why Tell Me Why in the wrong top 100? Those songs are all in the top 10 of most beautiful songs by many people, without any shame.”

She continues: “Maybe the term guilty pleasure is also more like a decade ago. Who decides what good taste is? And whether a certain song is possible or not? A bit old-fashioned.”

Best Singers on one

Best Singers was the winner on prime time with 1 million viewers (21 percent) on NPO 1. The program started half an hour later because of an extra long Achuurjournaal about the death of Queen Elizabeth. 2.3 million people (45 percent) watched it.

The other most-watched prime-time broadcasts were Mr. Frank Visser Does Uitspraak with 708 thousand viewers (14 percent) on SBS 6, Today Inside with 651 thousand viewers (14 percent) on SBS 6 and Lazio – Feyenoord with 614 thousand viewers (13 percent) on Veronica.
