Half time in Zagreb! Outsiders Dinamo deservedly lead 1-0 against Chelsea. As expected, the Londoners dominated possession. Zagreb defended with a deep block and tried their luck in transition situations via the fast Mislav Oršić. The home side’s first counterattack also led directly to the opening goal. Chelsea played too sluggishly around Ante Čačić’s side’s defensive compound for them to pull the chains apart. If things got dangerous at Chelsea, it was through individual actions by Raheem Sterling. Dinamo became more and more courageous and takes a well-deserved lead at the break with the significantly better chances.

Josip Drmić, a former player from Nuremberg, Leverkusen and Gladbach, switched from Norwich City to Dinamo before the season, but mostly only plays as a substitute.

This is Dinamo’s first appearance in the group stage of the Champions League since the 2019/2020 season. In the domestic league, coach Ante Čačić’s team is on course for the title. After eight matchdays they are leading the league with 22 points and an eight-point lead.
