The Irish textile discounter Primark has appointed Julia Ley to the newly created position of Head of Communications for Germany and Austria. From October 1st, in this role she will be “responsible for the development and implementation of Primark’s corporate affairs strategy in Germany and Austria, further developing the presentation in line with the company’s strategic priorities, promoting stakeholder engagement and as important Advisor to the German and Austrian management team,” said the company, which belongs to the conglomerate Associated British Foods Plc (ABF), on Tuesday.

Ley comes from the clothing retailer C&A, where, according to her future employer, she has held various management positions in communications over the past 17 years. Most recently, she was “responsible for all of C&A’s European markets as Head of Brand Marketing and Campaigns,” according to a statement.

Christiane Wiggers-Voellm, Managing Director of Primark Germany and Austria, welcomed the new Head of Communications: “We are very pleased that in Julia Ley we have been able to recruit someone who, on the one hand, has many years of industry and management experience in the most diverse areas of communications and on the other hand fits in very well with us on a purely human level,” she explained in a statement.
