Wielsbeke officially inaugurates new Sports Center Hernieuwenburg

The new Sports Center Hernieuwenburg houses a swimming pool, a sports hall, an interactive sports play wall, a multifunctional wall, a cafeteria and the offices of the leisure department of the municipality of Wielsbeke.

The 16.66 x 10 m swimming pool with a movable floor will mainly be used for school swimming and swimming lessons, but is also open to the public at fixed times. Residents of Wielsbeke, Dentergem and Oostrozebeke can use the swimming pool for aquagym, senior swimming, family swimming or lap swimming from 12 September at a resident rate. G-athletes can go to the pool on Wednesdays, and the pool can be hired for parties on Saturday afternoons.

Numerous sports clubs find new homes

The sports hall accommodates various Wielsbeek associations, including table tennis club TTC Wielsbeke-Leieland, basketball association Bobcat Wielsbeke, volleyball associations Ooidavo and women’s volleyball DVH, tennis club TC Hernieuwenburg and various mini football clubs. The sports hall can also be rented in full or in part for badminton (12 courts), mini football (2), volleyball (4), basketball (2) or tennis (2 courts).

The upstairs cafeteria is open daily. Everyone – including those who are less sporty – can enjoy a drink or snack, inside or on the terrace. The new sports center also accommodates the municipal leisure department, with offices for the sports department and the secretariat.
