With a temperature of 26 degrees on both weekend days, a warm late summer weekend is just around the corner. The holidays may be over, but the activities are still there. Dragon boat races, opening of the cultural season and the flower parade in Eelde. Just a selection of the activities in Drenthe this weekend.
The flower parade in Eelde will be held for the 65th time on Saturday. Fifteen cars pass through the village, from different neighborhoods and associations. After two years of corona measures, there is finally another flower parade in Eelde as the residents of Eelde are used to. Last year there was a kind of parade, but not with carts traveling through the village. The year before, the parade was canceled at all. The last ‘normal’ parade dates from 2019.
The tour of the parade cars starts at 11 a.m. and if you can’t be there yourself, you can watch it live on TV Drenthe from 15.30. In addition to the tour of parade floats, there is also live music in various places in Eelde and Saturday ends with a fireworks show. Have you not been able to see the parade cars at all? Then you can admire them on Sunday at the festival site. There is still music in Eelde on Sundays.
The cultural season in Hoogeveen starts this Saturday. Around De Tamboer, in the Tamboerpassage and on the Tamboerplein, you can see street theatre, children’s theatre, music, dance and visual arts. U!TdagenD Hoogeveen is organized by De Tamboer, Het Podium, Hoogeveen Library, Scala Center for the Arts and the Friends of De Tamboer.
Because U!TdagenD Hoogeveen is on Saturday, more organizations are joining. For example, you can qualify for the Dutch National Athletics Championships in the Hoofdstraat by being the fastest over sixty meters.
About 2500 participants will take part in the Velodrome Battle of Norg on Saturday. The route over 80 and 100 kilometers goes from the start in Norg through Langelo, Roden, Een, Zeijen, Assen, Zuidvelde and Norg. The Field Battle starts at 8.30 am and the first participants are expected to cross the finish line at 12.15 pm.
