Kingsley Coman was missing from Bayern Munich at the start of the Bundesliga season but came back with a bang. In the 7-0 thrashing of VfL Bochum he was in the starting eleven for the first time and was directly involved in four goals. The 2018 world champion wants to take this gala performance as a benchmark for the coming months, as Coman now emphasized in an interview.
The 26-year-old switched to Bayern Munich seven years ago and is now one of the longest-serving players in the Bayern squad. Coman has formulated particularly ambitious goals for the recently started season. “I feel physically good and I have great expectations for this year. I’ll do everything I can to help my teams win as many trophies as possible, including with the French national team,” said the winger in an interview with “RMC Sports“.
Coman, who has repeatedly struggled with injuries in recent years, is not only aiming to win the German championship again.
The speed dribbler has also set himself high goals in the cup competitions at national and European level: “We have to do much better than last season. The club has done everything to ensure that we have the best possible team. Those responsible did a very good job and it it’s up to us to get the job done on the pitch.”
Coman on the competition at Bayern Munich
Coman views the great competition with a mixture of sporting ambition and the necessary composure. In addition to the native Parisian, at least three other top players are vying for the two places on the offensive wings with Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala.
“I’ve always been a team player and I know that you have to make sacrifices and serve the team to win,” said Coman, who has made 160 Bundesliga appearances (31 goals) in his career so far.
