Circle of friends de Rijten has emerged as the big winner of the Brabantsedag in Heeze. The group won the general classification, the press prize and the audience prize with a beautiful car.
According to the organization of the Brabantsedag, the wagon construction group made an ‘enchanting representation’ of the painting Little Man with Big Toys by Jan Cobbaert. This painter lost his seven-year-old son Marc to the effects of a brain tumor. Since then he only painted colourful, childish fantasy worlds. Because of this, his son always stays close to him.
The public was entranced by the beautiful reproduction by the group of friends. De Rijten also received the pearl prize, which is awarded for exceptional group performance, construction, portrayal and use of materials. “The imagination brought up a tear in many,” the organization writes. Ge Wit ‘t Oit Noit Nie finished in second place. Third was De Lambrekvrienden.
Theme: With verve
After 1,099 days, thousands of spectators could finally enjoy the Brabantsedag in Heeze again this Sunday. The theme of the 63rd Brabantsedag was: ‘With verve’. A nod to the rich history of Brabant in the field of painting, but certainly also a tribute to all wagon builders and volunteers who work ‘with verve’ on their contribution to the parade.
