The first stage of the Germany tour leads on Wednesday (08/25/2022) over 172 kilometers picturesquely across Thuringia and ends on a final lap that invites attacks (today from 3 p.m. in the live stream at sportschau.de).
Assessment: This Tour of Germany already demands the legs of the riders on the first stage: Some short and steep climbs have to be overcome. After 55 kilometers, the crossing of the Thuringian Forest and the internationally known Rennsteig begins, twice the course leads up to more than 700 meters. It doesn’t really get flat after that: after the first crossing of the finish line in Meinigen, the up to 10 percent steep ascent in Dreizigacker lures aggressive drivers to attack – there are bonus seconds on top of that.
