Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) is among the top eight players at the WTA tournament in Granby, Canada.

The 35-year-old won her round of 16 against number four seeded Hungarian Anna Bondar 6:3, 6:2. In the quarter-finals, Maria meets Tereza Martincova from the Czech Republic or Diane Parry from France.

After a 4-0 lead in the first set, Maria had to be treated for around 15 minutes, but she was then able to continue playing. Early breaks in both sets paved the way for her success.

In Granby, the 92nd in the world rankings is the only German starter, at the US Open (from August 29th) Maria is one of four German women in the main draw, replacing the injured Anastassija Pavljutschenkowa.
