Corona: all numbers continue to fall

From August 16 to 22, 78 people were hospitalized every day, a 17 percent drop on a weekly basis. There are currently 1,105 people with a corona infection in hospitals (-17 percent). 71 patients are in intensive care (-28 percent), the lowest figure since the beginning of July. Nearly nine people still die every day from the effects of an infection.

Sciensano registered an average of 1,704 new infections daily between August 13 and 19, a 21 percent decrease compared to the previous period. During that period, approximately 7,700 tests were administered daily. About a quarter turned out to be positive. The reproduction number (0.89) remains below 1, meaning the pandemic is still losing momentum.
