Several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Sylvester Stallone, have been warned for flouting water restrictions imposed by California’s ongoing drought. That reported the Los Angeles Times on Monday.

Several regions of southern California, including Calabasas and Hidden Hills, which are known for lush lawns and large swimming pools, have restrictions on water consumption. According to The Los Angeles Times more than 2,000 inhabitants still exceed the limits, sometimes even to a large extent.

Citing official documents, the newspaper claims Kim Kardashian was raped several times in June. For example, in a house in Hidden Hills and an adjacent site that is linked to the reality star, 880,000 liters more water than was allowed. Stallone’s Hidden Hills residence exceeded the quota for June by 870,000 liters, 533 percent more than the limit.

Fines

Violators face fines of several hundred dollars, but repeated violations may also result in water restrictions.

Stallone’s lawyer told the newspaper that the article “misrepresents the situation” on a property that has some 500 old trees that would die without adequate watering. He stressed that at the same time, his client installed a frugal irrigation system and gave up certain lawns.

More and more residents in southern California are swapping their lawns for local plants that are more drought tolerant. Las Virgenes spokesman Mike McNutt emphasized that water consumption in the district has already been severely curtailed. He hopes that all celebrities follow the rules and set a good example. “People listen to you and value what you do,” he said.
