35 years ago, Patrick Swayze celebrated his greatest cinema success as the seductive dance teacher Johnny Castle. Yesterday, Thursday, the “Torches in the Storm” star would have been 70 years old. Now his widow Lisa Niemi remembered the “Dirty Dancing” star.
“I don’t think there’s anything I don’t miss about him,” the 66-year-old told Entertainment Tonight magazine. It’s mostly “the little things” that she misses. Especially his laughter and his voice, Niemi explained. “We had a great time and I have so much to be thankful for,” she added.
Of course, “Dirty Dancing” itself was also a topic. Niemi knew exactly why Swayze had never promised a sequel: “Patrick had high standards and didn’t just want to do it for the money” In 2020 it was announced that there would be a sequel with “Dirty Dancing” original Jennifer Grey. Niemi hopes the film will be “the absolute best”.
Died 20 months after diagnosis
Lisa Niemi was married to the Hollywood star for 34 years until Swayze’s death. In 2007 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, from which he finally died after 20 months.
