There are still several hundred Afghans in Afghanistan and some neighboring countries who want to flee. They have been in danger in their own country since the Taliban took power in the country, because they have worked for the Netherlands. That is why they are allowed to come to the Netherlands. A number of Afghans were unable to leave their own country because they did not have valid travel documents. That has been resolved now that Pakistan allows Afghans to enter the country without documents to board a flight to the Netherlands.
The Netherlands has received 2,475 Afghans since the end of August last year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to collect all Afghans who are allowed to come to the Netherlands as soon as possible.
