Champions League qualification: Lara Prasnikar initiates the victory of the Eintracht women

The first step was successful: the Eintracht Frankfurt soccer team won against Fortuna Hjörring and thus reached the final of the Champions League mini-tournament. Niko Arnautis’ team could have won even higher.

The Eintracht Frankfurt women won 2-0 (2-0) at Fortuna Hjörring from Denmark on Thursday evening. They will play against Ajax Amsterdam in the “final” on Sunday for a place in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Lara Prasnikar gave Frankfurt the lead (15′), three minutes later an own goal by Maria Ficzay led to the second goal.

Eintracht went to work in a dominant manner and worked out promising deals right from the start. The opposing goalkeeper Adelaide Gay often only knew how to throw away dangerous crosses – as was the case with a cross from Laura Feiersinger in the 15th minute, which the goalkeeper saved right at Prasnikar’s feet. The Slovenian shot the ball uncompromisingly into the net from eleven meters away.

Double aluminum pitch

In the second goal, defender Ficzay unluckily deflected a cross from Eintracht into her own goal (18′). Frankfurt’s coach Niko Arnautis praised loudly from the sidelines: “Good room layout!” Under the eyes of 50 to 100 traveling fans, the Hessians dominated the game. Barbara Dunst tried in vain with a long-range shot (35th), so the deserved 2-0 half-time lead remained.

In the 51st minute, Shekiera Martinez and Laura Freigang each headed the bar and then the post. Frankfurt goalkeeper Cara Bösl was rarely tested. On the other hand, Eintracht played countless counterattacks too uncleanly to screw up the result.

Final against Ajax

Nevertheless, the entry into the final was totally sovereign. Sunday’s opponents from Amsterdam had already won 3-1 against Kristianstads FF at midday and turned a 0-1 deficit at the break.
