Leipzig (dpa) – Just under five months after his commitment, Ilaix Moriba is already leaving the Bundesliga soccer team RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old Guinean international has been loaned out to Spanish first division side FC Valencia until the end of the season. This was shared by the club.
The loan should not include a purchase option. Moriba was still in action at the Africa Cup of Nations until Monday, the midfielder has only played 100 minutes for Leipzig. Moriba is still tied to RB until 2026.
Moriba was signed by FC Barcelona in the summer for 16 million euros. Florian Scholz, commercial director of sport at RB, described the deal as a “sustainable transfer with a clear direction for our future”. Managing director Oliver Mintzlaff recently emphasized that the coaching team would “work intensively with him” after the Africa Cup of Nations. Now a different path was decided at short notice, as Moriba is said to be given a lot of playing time in Valencia.
