Andy van der Meijde should not think of joining the men of Studio Voetbal. “No never. Doesn’t suit me. Should I hold back, I can’t be myself.”
One more night of sleep and then it’s time for Andy van der Meijde. He will make his debut tomorrow night as a permanent analyst in Wilfred Genee’s brand new football talk show: Veronica Offside. The other regular analysts are Wesley Sneijder and Wim Kieft. It’s going to be fun TV, Andy expects. More fun than Studio Voetbal in any case.
Not at Studio Voetbal
Andy should not think about appearing at Studio Voetbal, he says in The Telegraph. “No never. Doesn’t suit me. Should I hold back, I can’t be myself.”
Those kinds of serious talk shows are not for Andy at all. “I sat at such a table at ESPN and that was nice in itself, but starting to talk two hours before a game and an hour and a half after a game like that, that takes way too long man.”
‘Was my dream’
With Wilfred at the helm, Andy is looking forward to it. “It was my dream to one day sit at such a table where people talk a little bit about football.”
He continues: “I got a chance to smell it at VTBL, the successor of Voetbal Inside at RTL, but that was – undoubtedly with good reason – immediately deleted by Peter van der Vorst when he became the boss there.”
VTBL
VTBL is now back on the tube, as a direct competitor of Veronica Offside. That program is so bad it’s just sad for everyone involved. It seems to soon disappear from the tube.
At least Andy has nothing to do with that anymore. “Now I get another chance at Veronica Offside. Talking about the best there is, a bit of craziness, dressing room humor. Really my thing. Looking forward to.”
