Denzel Dumfries worth gold for Inter with winning goal in injury time | Foreign football

Serie ADenzel Dumfries saved Internazionale from losing points in the away game against Lecce deep in injury time. In the 95th minute, the substitute ran the ball into the far post after a corner from the right flank and gave his team a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

The returned Romelu Lukaku, who also played at Inter from 2019 to 2021, gave the team of coach Simone Inzaghi the lead in the second minute. The Belgian headed in from close range on his first opportunity after good preparatory work by Matteo Darmian. The Gambian Assan Ceesay, who came over from FC Zurich, equalized for Lecce shortly after the break.

In the second half, Inter, who also brought in Edin Dzeko, insisted. Despite a predominance and almost 70 percent of the ball, it didn’t seem to come to the 1-2, but in the last few seconds the right back caused a release for his teammates and Inzaghi.

Stefan de Vrij played the entire match at Inter, where Dumfries came in the 68th minute. Watch his goal below.

Also win national champion AC Milan

Earlier in the evening, fellow townsman AC Milan also won. The reigning national champion was 4-2 too strong for Udinese at home. For the first time this century, six goals were scored in the opening game of the Italian football season.

The visitors – where Bram Nuytinck played the entire match – took the lead in the second minute via Rodrigo, but after fifteen minutes AC Milan took the lead thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez (penalty) and Ante Rebic. In the second half, Brahim Díaz and Rebic again scored. Rebic was replaced in the 72nd minute by Olivier Giroud. The start of the season came too early for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was recovering from a serious knee injury.

The Belgian Charles De Ketelaere, as a substitute, made his debut for the Milanese. The midfielder came over from Club Brugge this summer, where he scored fourteen times in 39 matches last season.

Atalanta also recorded a victory in the first round. The team of Orange internationals Hans Hateboer, Marten de Roon and Teun Koopmeiners – who all played the entire game – won 2-0 at Sampdoria. Rafael Tolói and substitute Ademola Lookman scored in Genoa.
