Alina Gause is the new director of the Theater im Palais

She’s the new girl in one of the smallest theaters in town. Alina Gause (56), who works as an actress under the name Alina Lieske, is the new director of the Theater im Palais.

The stage is only five by six meters, and there are no more than 99 seats. A special challenge?

“Not for what I plan to do and what my heart beats for,” says Alina Gause to the BZ “I love art to touch, without elaborate packaging, just artists who sing and play great. Due to the proximity, the audience experiences them up close. We will not try to be a big stage on a small scale.”

The new boss has been associated with the house for many years and has also performed here herself. She wants to build on what has been achieved and develop new things.

She will also perform the first premiere of “Diva Berlin”, a solo music theater evening. “Through this evening I can show who I am, venture into the arena and become visible,” says Gause.

“On the other hand, the program shows where I want to go in terms of content. It’s genre-bending, self-written and self-performed, and tries to understand the Berlin mindset.”

And what is your vision for the small house between the Gorki Theater, State Opera and Museum Island? Gause: “It should be a meeting place, a house of art and artists. I wish that people would sit together and clown something together.”
