Second MLS departure at Rapid Vienna: Fountas moves to DC United

to Kara

After Ercan Kara (26; Orlando City), SK Rapid Vienna lost a second attacker to the MLS: Taxiarchis Fountas switched to DC United – unlike Kara, however, only after the end of the season. The 26-year-old Greece international has signed a contract until June 30, 2025 with an option to extend until the end of 2025.

In the capital city franchise, Fountas becomes a so-called “designated player”, i.e. a player whose salary is not directly linked to the salary cap. According to the Washington Post, the offensive man will earn around 2 million euros a year. “We believe his skills and personality are a perfect fit for our system,” said General Manager Lucy Rushton.
