Gravenberch, who switched from Ajax to Bayern Munich this summer, is the only Dutchman on the list of ten contenders. The other nine are the Germans Karim Adeyemi, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, the British Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, the Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga, the Spaniard Gavi, the Portuguese Nuno Mendes and the Croat Josko Gvardiol.
Last year, Gravenberch and Jurriën Timber were among the group of twenty nominees. The Spaniard Pedri then won the prize.
Rafael van der Vaart was the first winner of the Golden Boy award in 2003. After him, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappé, Matthijs de Ligt (in 2018) and Erling Haaland received the prize.
