It seemed like a significant scene, last Wednesday in Nijkerk. There the large farmers’ organizations decided that they would send LTO chairman Sjaak van der Tak with a unanimous message to the consultation with nitrogen mediator Johan Remkes. Foremen Mark van den Oever (Farmers Defense Force) and Bart Kemp (Agractie) look somewhat scornfully at Van der Tak, as if the 66-year-old LTO boss is an old uncle who they no longer take very seriously.
