British jazz band Sons Of Kemet have released four albums since they formed in 2011. Their current album BLACK TO THE FUTURE was released in May 2021. ME author Frank Sawatzki awarded a whopping 5.5 out of six possible stars and summarized his impression in his review as follows: “Shabaka Hutching’s band transforms the current protests and lawsuits of the Afro-American community into impressive jazz that goes far beyond jazz.” How gratifying it was when Sons Of Kemet announced a tour of Germany in September 2021, presented by Musikexpress. And how unpleasant it is that this tour is now being canceled without replacement.
In a statement, the band said:
We have planned our Black to the Future tour for 2022 hoping to play a great and successful tour. Unfortunately, the new virus variants and the associated restrictions have thwarted us again and unfortunately we have to cancel a number of shows. Including all the dates of the Germany tour. We’re really sorry to disappoint our fans, but we hope to play in your city again very soon – SONS OF KEMET.
Tickets can be returned at the respective VVK offices.

On January 26th we launched a digital space that we set up for bands, musicians, promoters, clubs and solo self-employed people in the live music business. There everyone can communicate their concert announcements, postponements and cancellations and find out about projects, jobs and special releases. Statements can also be posted and opinions discussed.
It’s a kind of digital “bulletin board” and is intended to help the music scene get through the Covid crisis relatively unscathed.
