Ex-batsman wants to return to the Germany eight

The former batsman of the Germany eight Hannes Ocik is aiming for a return to the DRV parade boat.

Because the announced successes after his move to the rowing-skull area at the end of last year did not materialize, the native of Rostock wants to try his luck again in the oar area.

“I took a close look at my sporting development over the past few months and looked where I actually want to go. My goal is Paris 2024. And I probably won’t see Paris during development,” said the former world and European champion in the aft the “ARD” radio station.

All attempts by the 31-year-old to secure a seat in one of the German scull boats have failed so far this season. In the belt rowers, Ocik expects better chances. “I’d rather go back to familiar waters,” he said.

After second place at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, there was a major upheaval in the German eight with six changes. Good performance should help Ocik, who works as an “ARD” expert at the European Rowing Championships in Munich, back into the big boat.
