Still big concerns Anne Heche. Her injuries are far more serious than they appeared over the weekend, a representative for the actress-director told Deadline.
“Anne is currently in an extremely critical condition. She has a serious lung injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns requiring surgery,” her spokesman said in a statement. “She is in a coma and has not yet regained consciousness from her accident.”
Car caught fire in accident
The new statement comes two days after Heche’s press team released an encouraging statement on Saturday. It said she was in a “stable condition”. Nonetheless, the Heches family asked for “thoughts and prayers” at the time.
Heche has been at a local hospital since Friday when her car crashed – and caught fire – in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles.
A large force of 59 firefighters battled the dangerous blaze for over an hour, which set fire to both Heche’s car and the house she crashed into. The men managed to pull her out of the wreck. According to local media, she was still able to communicate at the time. She lost consciousness shortly thereafter.

A podcast featuring Heche, in which she speaks in a conspicuously slurred tone, was released on Friday. The stammering is mainly associated with the accident on social media.
LAPD spokeswoman Annie Hernandez told City News Service that investigators obtained permission to draw blood from the actress. The neighbors of the woman whose home was completely destroyed in the accident have set up a GoFundMe website to help her.
As of Monday afternoon, more than $75,000 had been raised. According to the site, the neighbor “only narrowly escaped serious injuries” in the accident. But the house is only a ruin and she lost “all her belongings”….
