Uruguay’s national soccer hero Luis Suárez has scored for the first time after returning to his hometown club.
The 35-year-old national team’s record goalscorer scored the third goal of his team with a header in Nacional Montevideo’s 3-0 win over Rentistas (58′). It was Suárez’s second game for the club where he made his professional debut in 2005, following his move to Montevideo at the end of July.
After the stations FC Groningen and Ajax Amsterdam, Suárez rose to become one of the most dangerous strikers in the world at FC Liverpool (2011-2014), then he had a very successful time at FC Barcelona (2014-2020), with whom he won the Champions League and 2015 won the Club World Cup.
In 2020, Suárez moved to Atlético Madrid before signing with the 48-time Uruguayan champions for five months.
