Work on Ring South continues during construction period | NOW

The construction industry started this week, but the work on Ring Zuid continues as usual. Work is being done in various places to improve accessibility, traffic flow, quality of life and safety.

At the Leonard Springerlaan, work is underway on the new connection of the southern ring road to the western ring road and the new ramp from the Leonard Springerlaan. This road will be a lot higher than the current road, for which an elevation will be made with polystyrene foam blocks.

In addition, on the Vrijheidsplein, the unpacking of the concrete on the connecting arch from the western ring road to the southern ring road will start. The towers of the structure below the connecting arch are removed during the construction period.

At the Julianaplein, on the side of the Papiermolen, wells and pipes will be constructed at the entrance of the bicycle tunnel at the end of July and the beginning of August. The floor of the tunnel on the side of the Papiermolen is also being prepared, so that concrete can be poured in September.

Until August 20, the old Juliana Bridge on Julianaplein will be demolished. Between August 15 and September 2, sheet piles will also be vibrated for the definitive quay of the Noord-Willemskanaal, between the temporary bridge and the Amalia tunnel.

Work is underway on the west side of the A28 between (and on) the Van Iddekingeweg viaduct and the Van Ketwich Verschuurlaan viaduct. The work consists of sewerage work, asphalting, installing guide rails and light poles and placing the traffic lights at the intersection with Vondellaan. The exit on Brailleweg in the direction of the center will also be set up.

At the Frontier, a technical building is being built that will be placed on the sunken location. In this building, all technology comes together for the sunken location. Think of lighting, matrix signs and safety sensors.

Combination Herepoort will be carrying out various work this summer on the ring road between Europaweg and Euvelgunne junction. Piece by piece, the road will have its final appearance with new light poles and a green central reservation.

At the Europaweg, the new ring road viaduct will be further expanded. The new part will be put into use at the end of August. Work is also underway on the new exit for traffic driving from Julianaplein towards the center.

Further east, the contractor is laying a new layer of asphalt over two separate carriageways. This creates a wider road that will soon be able to handle more traffic. Low-noise asphalt will be placed on the new layer. The arch that connects the eastern ring road with the southern ring road will also receive new asphalt.
