PSV surprisingly starts on Tuesday with Ismael Saibari in the base in the important away game against AS Monaco. Trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij also places fullback Phillipp Mwene in Stade Louis II.
AS Monaco line-up
- Nubel; Vanderson, Disasi, Maripan, Jakobs; Fofana, Matazo; Minamino, Volland, Golovin; Ben Yeder.
PSV lineup
- Benitez; Mwene, Teze, Obispo, Max; Sangare, Til, Veerman; Saibari, De Jong, Gakpo.
Saibari plays as a right winger, the position normally occupied by the currently injured Noni Madueke. On Saturday, Van Nistelrooij opted for the young Johan Bakayoko in the duel for the Johan Cruijff Scale against Ajax in that position.
The 21-year-old Saibari made a good impression at PSV during the preparation. The Moroccan-born Moroccan came in against Ajax during the second half and then he also caused danger from the right flank.
As a right back, Mwene is preferred over Ki-Jana Hoever, who is on the bench against Monaco. Furthermore, PSV’s position is the same as against Ajax.
Myron Boadu is missing from AS Monaco. The former AZ striker is recovering from a foot injury. Trainer Philippe Clement has well-known names in the front with Takumi Minamino, Kevin Volland, Aleksandr Golovin and Wissam Ben Yedder.
AS Monaco-PSV starts at 8 p.m. The return in the Philips Stadium is in exactly one week. The winner of the diptych will meet Rangers FC or Union Sint-Gillis in the battle for Champions League participation.
