A 27-year-old woman was racially insulted and beaten by a 20-year-old man on a Berlin bus in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf on Monday.
As the police announced on Tuesday, the woman initially sat on the upper deck of a BVG bus on line 186 and made a phone call in Arabic. As a result, the suspect sitting in front of her began to racially insult her and show her the middle finger.
He then followed the woman to the lower level of the bus, pushed her into the entrance area and held her head. He hit her shoulder, kneed her in the stomach and repeatedly tried to tear off her headscarf.
The alleged perpetrator is said to have only let go of the 27-year-old when witnesses intervened. The bus driver parked his vehicle at the Wiesbadener Strasse / Laubacher Strasse / Südwestkorso bus stop and locked the doors so that the suspect who was still on the bus could not escape.
According to the woman who was attacked, she is three months pregnant and, as a precaution, had herself examined in a hospital after the attack.
According to police, the suspect was found to have narcotics. He was taken to a psychiatric ward in a hospital. The state security police took over the investigation.
