While Vettel and Stroll are back in the pits after an installation lap, the track has slowly filled up. Only the Mercedes and Latifi haven’t been out yet.

Start 2nd training
The traffic lights are green, the start of the 2nd training session in Budapest has taken place. Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll are the first drivers to take to the track. Magnussen and the Alfa Romeo follow a little later.

It’s still hot in Budapest. The track temperature before the 2nd practice session is 49 degrees. The air has warmed up to 33 degrees. It’s not supposed to rain today.

Vettel in eleventh place
Sebastian Vettel, who announced his retirement at the end of the season on Thursday, ended the first practice session in eleventh place. At Aston Martin, a new rear wing was extensively tested. At Haas, however, the test with the new update was pending. Only Kevin Magnussen received this, but he did not make the decisive leap with it. He landed about 0.1 seconds ahead of Mick Schumacher, who is still driving the old set-up.

Norris’ first pursuer
The first pursuer was Lando Norris. The Brit was able to steer his McLaren into fourth place. Daniel Ricciardo was also in the top ten in eighth place. Mercedes found themselves close behind with George Russell in fifth. Lewis Hamilton was seventh. Alpine had also brought both cars into the top ten. Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso are ninth and tenth respectively.

Sainz sets the best time
Carlos Sainz set the best time in the first practice session. The Spaniard clocked a 1:18.750 on the Softs, a good one and a half tenths of a second quicker than Max Verstappen. Charles Leclerc came in third, with the usual suspects leading the list of results. Meanwhile, Sergio Pérez in the second Red Bull was further behind. He was sixth.
