First step for the fire brigade – but there is no rest!

In future, smaller emergencies are to be taken over by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. A comment from BZ editor Axel Lier.

It was long overdue: the fire brigade no longer wants to send an ambulance to every trifle.

Spider bites, minor scalds and slipped contact lenses are no longer cases for the emergency call 112, but in the future for the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV).

It is the first step in normalizing the completely overburdened rescue service of the fire brigade – if the KV can actually handle it. Because otherwise the operations will come back to the fire brigade like a boomerang.

So there is no rest. The fire brigade experts have to clarify: Which other alleged emergency calls can be made to general practitioners, ambulance companies or psychosocial specialist advice?

The men and women “at the grassroots” are waiting for further, short-term solutions. Trade unions and the staff council have made enough suggestions.
