Defending champions Spain are struggling
The Spaniards had previously tormented themselves to a 28:27 (14:13) in the final main round game in front of 1,432 spectators in Bratislava and thus qualified for the medal games of a European handball championship for the sixth time in a row.
Goalkeeper Corrales saves the victory
right winger Ferran Sole was Spain’s top scorer with five goals against Poland. the EM–champion from 2020 and 2018 was in the lead for almost the entire season, but had to throw everything into the balance against the outsider until the end. Goalkeeper saved the narrow victory Corrales with a spectacular double save in the final minute.
Also Denmark in the semifinals
It is not yet clear against whom the Spaniards, who clearly defeated the selection of the German Handball Federation (DHB) with 29:23 at the start of the main round, will compete in Budapest in the fight for the final. The second semi-finalist of the main round group 2 will be decided on Tuesday evening (8.30 p.m.) by Norway, third at the European Championships, and runner-up Sweden. World champion Denmark had already secured their first semi-final ticket from the parallel group on Monday.
