★★★1/2 It is no longer a novelty that animated films have reached heights of technical perfection and remarkable image development. This is evident in this luxurious Netflix production that, set in a fantastic 18th century, narrates the constant war between humans and sea monsters. But since it is a family film, the reader knows that there will be a lesson. In this case, somewhat following the topic (better developed, let’s agree) in How to train your dragon, monsters can be good, they are simply part of Nature and “war” is nothing more than a political issue. That detracts from a film that stands out for its impressive action sequences and, above all, for the relationship that is established between the hero (great vocal work by Karl Urban) and the leading girl. The show is great, the mix of adventure and humor works and, at times, reminds us why it was worth being children.
