If the children need to expend some energy, they can do so in the city center of Assen. The center is dedicated to the Mega Spring Fest. Bouncy castles in all shapes and sizes will be placed on Koopmansplein, Ceresplein and at the Mercuriuscentrum. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. it’s time to jump. There are also shows by Circus Bombari during the day, including in the Gouveneurstuin.
The Midsummer Evening Marathon will be run in the Diever area on Saturday evening. A course will be set out for this through the Drents Friese Wold. Competitors can choose four distances; 10, 20, 30 or the official marathon distance, 42.2 kilometers. Do you want to encourage the runners? They start at 5 pm at group accommodation Het Kasteel in Diever.
Want to go even further back in time? On Saturday and Sunday, the Hunebedcentrum in Borger is all about the Oerweekend. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the site next to the center is taken over by prehistoric people. Visitors can see, hear, smell and feel how prehistoric people lived, worked and survived in prehistoric times. There is also an excavation site where you can see how an archaeologist works.
