The year 2022 is accompanied by Maria Black with the ELEMENTS collection, which consists of four different drops, each representing one of the four elements – earth, air, water and fire. After DROP 01 – EARTH and DROP 02 – AIR, which were launched earlier this year, comes the latest addition to this collection – DROP 03 – WATER, which will be available from July 29, 2022.
Inspired by the fluid and mysterious shapes of various bodies of water, this drop features designs reminiscent of structures that melt and yet forever retain their shape as if frozen in time. Sculptural shapes combined with Maria Black’s clean, signature aesthetic define this drop and the collection as a whole.
The DROP 03 – WATER Highlight Pieces include statement earrings and pendants complemented by a resin-enclosed goldfish – “Marina” – and letter pendants named “Fluent Letters”. The “Marina” (Latin – from the sea) earrings and charms are the stars of the show. Comprising a carabiner-inspired huggie, this particular piece is completed with a teardrop-shaped resin mold enclosing a silver or gold-plated fish. The construction of this piece allows the bottom portion to rotate, adding another attention-grabbing detail to this complex design.
The design of “Marina” was inspired by comparing the short-term memory of a goldfish and the tendency to quickly forget unpleasant events. This piece is also a reflection on life after the pandemic and a reminder of all we have learned and appreciated in times of uncertainty. This style has been styled and admired several times by businesswoman and influencer Kylie Jenner.
