Billiard player Dick Jaspers wins gold at World Games

Billiard player Dick Jaspers has won gold at the World Games in Birmingham, USA. The 56-year-old reigning world champion won in the three cushion final against José Juan Garcia from Colombia. It was 40-18.

Jaspers also won gold at the 2009 World Games. He took silver in 2001 and 2005. In the last two editions, in 2013 and 2017, he was eliminated early.

The World Games are organized every four years, always one year after the Olympic Games. At the World Games, 32 sports are on the program that are not Olympic, such as a number of martial arts, squash, korfball and billiards. About 3600 athletes from 100 countries participate in the World Games.
