Sigrid Kaag has to deal with fierce criticism from Martien Meiland and Rachel Hazes. They think that the D66 politician talks too much with flour in their mouth and are more of a fan of Caroline van der Plas.
Caroline van der Plas of the farmers’ party is doing extremely well in the polls. On the other hand, the popularity of Sigrid Kaag and her party D66 is under enormous pressure. Not surprising, according to Martien Meiland and Rachel Hazes. They are absolutely not a fan of the way Kaag conducts politics.
Rachel fan of Caroline
A woman like Caroline does much better, says Rachel in the podcast What Goeeed. “It is very important that she also makes politics a bit fun and also makes it understandable for everyone.”
Rachel thinks Caroline is at least somewhat understandable. She never understands other politicians. “Usually with politics – and maybe it sounds a bit silly – it’s all those heavy conversations. Then I think: I have already forgotten what you meant by the second line by the third line.”
Sneer to Sigrid Kaag
Erica Meiland then: “Yes, all that woolly language that makes you think: where is this going?”
Martien: “I have that with that Sigrid Kaag, for example. Then I think: what is that woman talking difficult and weird?”
Erica: “Yes, that’s right. That doesn’t appeal to a lot of people.”
Jip and Janneke
Rachel shares Martien’s opinion about Sigrid Kaag. “Yes, well, that! You know, just talk to me in Jip and Janneke language and I’ll understand.”
Martin: “I think so too. I totally agree with you.”
Erica: “Yes, just get to the heart of the matter right away. Why talk about it so much? That’s just a waste of your time, isn’t it?”
Groceries
Conversely, Caroline is also a fan of Rachel. The politician has let it be known that she finds the sentences against the professional widow objectionable. Rachel had even offered to run errands during her illness, she revealed.
Rachel about that: “I really meant that. Even if she had said yes, or said ‘do it every other day’, I would really have done it, because she is a very nice, engaging woman. I had a really good click with her.”
Erica: “Yeah, so are we. We also think she is a very nice person and she does well in politics.”
