Yesterday the 2022 edition of the Golden Cup of the Dolomites, born in 1947, got underway. Over 70 crews from 10 countries take part in the race, driving some of the most prestigious vintage cars of the 20th century. Along the route of about 440 km will come the mountain roads of Passo Giau, Val Fiorentina and Lake Misurina

On July 14 in Cortina the 2022 edition of the Coppa d’oro delle Dolomiti kicked off, a regularity race for historic cars, which will end on July 17. The race organized by the Automotive Club of Belluno and of Italy in collaboration with the Aci Storico and Aci Sport Club, winds along a 440 km mountain course with 94 timed trials and seven average trials. Over 70 crews from 10 countries participate in the 2022 edition, driving the most prestigious vintage cars of the twenty-first century. Each car participating in the race is equipped with a particular GPS system that accurately transmits the position and data on the direction and speed of the cars to the judges. “The Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti not only enhances, but promotes our mountains – says President of the Province of Belluno Roberto Padrin -. It is in fact a combination of sport, culture and tradition that involves people, feeds the economy of the Belluno area and it allows us to “export” the beauties of our Dolomites. The 2022 edition of the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti includes three stages. The first fraction took place on Friday 14 July, with 48 timed trials and three average trials. The route planned to depart from Cortina and then tackle the Giau Pass, Val Fiorentina, Belluno, the ascent of Nevegal, Ospitale di Cadore and Pieve di Cadore. On Saturday 15 July the race winds along some of the most important passes in the Dolomites: Falzarego, Campolungo, Furcia, Zovo and Sant’Antonio, and then reaches Lake Misurina. On Sunday 16, the 70 crews taking part in the Gold Cup will be able to continue their challenge on the occasion of the “Cortina dei Sestieri”. A competition out of the general classification that is added to the third edition of the Concorso di Eleganza of the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, where a jury of experts will evaluate the cars that will be awarded at the final ceremony.

Some of the most important cars of the 20th century take part in the 2022 edition of the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti. These include the 1929 Lancia Lombarda, the 1927 Bugatti 37 A, the 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS and the 1937 Bmw 328 Roadster.
