After two tough days in the Alps, a relatively easy ride from Bourg d’Oisans to Saint-Étienne will follow on Friday for the riders in the Tour de France. There are some climbs along the way, but the expectation is that sprinters with power will not have to unload there and have their chance in a bunch sprint.
The thirteenth stage starts shortly after 1 pm and after a third category climb, the Col de Parménie follows after more than 70 kilometers, slightly heavier and of the second category. At 44 kilometers before the finish is still the Côte de Saint-Romain-en-Gal, of the third category. It seems too far to be decisive for the final of the ride. The finish is planned around 5.30 pm.
The Dane Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo-Visma wears the yellow jersey for the second day, his teammate Wout van Aert has owned the green for some time. The mountain jersey remained in the hands of the German Simon Geschke, while the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar has to settle for the white as leader of the youth classification for the time being.
