Darmstadt 98 before the transfer of Oscar Vilhelmsson – 2nd million transfer in the club’s history

Talent comes from Gothenburg

According to media reports, SV Darmstadt 98 is facing a transfer coup. The second division club is said to have agreed with IFK Göteborg to change the Swedish striker Oscar Vilhelmsson. The 18-year-old was already out of the squad for Monday night’s league game against Hammarby IF and is said to be on his way to Darmstadt for his medical tomorrow or Wednesday.

With a market value of 2 million euros, Vilhelmsson would become the most valuable professional in the “Lilien” squad, level with attacker Phillip Tietz (25) and central defender Patric Pfeiffer (22). The transfer fee that Darmstadt will transfer to the Swedish first division club is loud sky with about 1.5 million euros just below. Nevertheless, it will be the highest transfer fee for Darmstadt in six years, when Roman Bezjak paid €2 million to HNK Rijeka. Overall, it will only be the second transfer with a seven-digit sum for the “lilies”.

Vilhelmsson made his professional debut for Gothenburg back in September 2019 at the age of 15. In the 2021 season – in the Allsvenskan seasons are played according to calendar years – the center forward made his breakthrough with two goals in 14 appearances, and another two goals were added in eleven games this year. Among all Sweden U19 players, only Celta Vigo’s Williot Swedberg (€5m) has a higher market value.
