The explosion at the Roef 3 in Huizen is still surrounded by a lot of question marks. Mayor Niek Meijer carefully looks back at the explosion and what preceded it, but he doesn’t let go much.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the mayor cannot share much with NH Nieuws about the events surrounding the explosion in Huizen. He would like to return to peace in the neighborhood as soon as possible, but that is still a long way to go. The explosion took place in the night from Saturday to Sunday and the local residents are still very frightened.
Security scaled down
Last Sunday, the homes at Roef 3 and 6 were closed due to a threat. After this, security was considerably increased in the district, but the impression quickly emerged that this was no longer necessary. In the following week, therefore, it was scaled down again.
The mayor does not want to say whether this was an error of judgment with retroactive effect. Meijer does not want to say exactly what the ‘increased supervision’ was that still remained in the district. And the mayor cannot say much about the current security that has been installed.
NH Nieuws reporter Ingmar Meijer also experienced how difficult it is to get answers about the situation in Huizen. He wrote about the relationship which he built last week with the government agencies, and describes the difficult tug-of-war for questions and answers.
