On the occasion of the 6 Hours of Monza, in which Peugeot participates with the innovative 9XE, the new 408 was presented. A crossover that rewrites the stylistic language of the French lion, offering an aesthetic that is always sharp and captivating but on a body that it is the result of different influences and inspirations. Design remains the element around which the 408 project is defined and stands out: a figure that is reflected throughout the most recent Peugeot range. And which suggests the desire to position itself in a higher market segment that can move away from a generalist identity and approach a premium proposal. In view of total electrification: the real long-term goal (and only destination, it seems) to which all the most recent projects refer.

Scratchy Style

408 speaks a new stylistic language: it is inspired by the recent Peugeot interpretation but with stylish details that “refresh” its appearance. The front forgoes the three-scratch signature for a slimmer yet dynamic headlight silhouette. The mask is massive and compact composed of single angular elements approached almost to compose a mosaic. Overall the glance is solid, robust has personality and a tone that stands out on the road. This is thanks to a bodywork configuration that is the result of a contamination between sedan, SUV and crossover. A new proposal that fits into a dynamic and highly appreciated segment among contemporary motorists.

It arrives in 2023

The interiors have also been renewed, proposing a scenographic and technological organization of the dashboard. The screens in the on-board entertainment system and instrument cluster are in line with the tone and ambitions of the vehicle which, as anticipated, appeal to a segment that is certainly unusual (for now) for Peugeot. A matter of time, however: the new 408 will be produced in France with the launch of the line starting from the end of 2022. The first units will therefore only be available in 2023. Prices and fittings for the Italian market have not yet been communicated. .
