1. FC Köln sentenced to high fines

Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln has been fined a total of 231,200 euros by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) for five cases of unsportsmanlike behavior by its supporters.

In the games at Union Berlin on April 1st, against Mainz (April 9th) and VfL Wolfsburg (May 7th) and at VfB Stuttgart (May 14th), Cologne spectators had detonated pyrotechnic objects, sometimes to a considerable extent.

The storming of more than 1,000 fans in Cologne after the Wolfsburg game was also sanctioned. Despite the 1-0 draw against VfL, FC had made it through to the European Cup, and the supporters en masse gained access to the interior.

Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt was fined three times totaling 44,000 euros for five cases of “unsportsmanlike behavior by his supporters and insufficient security service”. Union Berlin has to shell out 1000 euros, the second division SC Paderborn and FC St. Pauli are asked to pay 6900 and 3600 euros respectively.

Frankfurt, Union, Paderborn and St. Pauli have approved the verdicts, which are now final.
