The driver from Madrid won the first race in the top category at Silverstone after beating Sergio Pérez and Lewis Hamilton.

By Francisco Godia, by Juan Jover, by Alfonso de Portago, by Antonio Creus, by Alex Soler, by Emilio de Villota, by Emilio Zapico, by Adrián Campos, by Luis Pérez, by Pedro de la Rosa, by Marc Gené, by Jaime Alguersuari, by Roberto Merhi and above all by Fernando Alonso. All of them opened in one way or another so that Carlos Sainz is the second winner

The Ferrari driver has had to expect the weekend of your life. Carlos took pole for the first time in his race and consequently won a much more complicated race than people might think.

The Madrilenian had to fight a great time with a Max Verstappen that until he broke his car was a very hard nut to crack. Then his teammate Charles Leclerc made things more than complicated for him by asking him to give up his position due to his higher race pace. Luck, however, sometimes shows up.

Esteban Ocon stopped the car in the middle of the straight 13 laps from the end and Sainz decided to enter to put soft wheels being in second position. The bet worked out wonderfully for him because everyone copied his strategy except for Leclerc who remained with hard tires suffering from Cain’s.

Sainz was able to overtake his teammate thanks to his greater speed and then he was helped -we don’t know if accidentally or not- to stop Sergio Pérez and Lewis Hamilton to obtain an income that was unattainable for the rest of the race.

Alonso’s detail

At the end of it, the first and last Spaniard to win a Formula 1 race, Fernando Alonsogot out to congratulate him on being his successor. And that the Spaniard should not be unhappy after finishing fifth at Silverstone, his best race of the season.

The race was marked by serious accident of Chinese Zhou, whose life was saved by the HALO after rolling over almost 100 meters. The Alfa Romeo driver was involved in the most important accident so far this season and gave importance to the safety system that was in doubt at the beginning.

Thus, the Formula 1 World Championship turns around with the results that took place at Silverstone. Leclerc only has an 11-point advantage over Sainz when it became more than 50. Verstappen too has seen his slight lead dwindle ahead of racing at home next week in Austria with a planned race at the Red Bull Ring.
