The day before the start of the Tour de France, the Dutch cycling team Jumbo-Visma had to deal with a major setback. Sporting director Merijn Zeeman has tested positive for corona. The Bussumer will therefore not travel with the team to the start in Copenhagen next Friday.
“Unfortunately, I too have been infected with COVID-19. There is no other option but to send the team in the Tour de France behind my laptop until I have fully recovered. Hopefully I can rejoin the team soon,” writes. the 43-year-old sporting director of the Dutch cycling team on Twitter today.
Prologue
The Tour de France starts this Friday with the prologue in Copenhagen and ends on Sunday 24 July in Paris. Nils Eekhoff and Dylan Groenewegen are the only people from North Holland who appear at the start of the multi-day stage race.
